From the viewpoint of administration the workings of the dynamic web fall into two groups. There are those that lie wholly within a single site and those that involve communication between sites.

My prime concern here is with activities that involve communication between sites. These are the negotiation and operation of subscription contracts. The requirements for administration in each case are addressed below.

Negotiation of Subscription Contracts

The chief concern here is to ensure that the service to be provided is clearly stated in unambiguous terms including the basis of payment if any and other obligations on both sides. These details will be addressed in due course.

Operation of Subscription Contracts

The chief concern here is with procedures to ensure the maintenance of accurate records of all successful transfers of assertions. This is to provide the basis for assuring the subscriber that the service is working properly and for the calculation of any payments that need to be made. This will also be addressed in due course.
