Guide to New Content
- recent additions to the site and other topical matters
- This latest revision (on 2nd January) includes a new version of the page describing the content and APIs for the site knowledge store concept which lies at the heart of the envisioned global knowledge base. This new version is a litle more tightly specified than before and is more aligned to the terminology of the semantic web.
- The impetus behind these changes comes from work in progress on an implementation that I hope to release later this year. Other changes throughout the site follow from a slight shift of emphasis from a product aimed at ordinary web users towards one that will solve some of the problems faced in the integration of complex knowledge data.
- This shift in emphasis makes no difference in substance but does affect the language used on this site. For example, the content of an assertion was described in lay terms as "subject-value-meaning-context-provenance" so as to make sense to people outside the world of knowledge engineering. I have now switched to using the terms "subject predicate-object-context-provenance" to show those familiar with RDF etc. that I am not trying to 'reinvent the wheel' but seek only to extend RDFS in order to solve problems of global sharing.
